Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Snap Now, Find Later (the “App”) handles your information.
Effective: September 14, 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies to the App’s camera or photo selection, object recognition, on-device storage and search, recognition credits, and Apple in-app purchase features. It does not cover information you independently submit to other websites or services.
2. Photos and item information
When you choose or take a photo and start recognition, the App processes:
- the selected photo of a box, cabinet, drawer, or other storage space;
- the storage location you enter; and
- recognized item names, aliases, visible text (OCR), bounding regions, and confidence values.
This information is used only to recognize items, save the scene, and let you search for and highlight an item later. Normal searches do not upload photos, search terms, location text, or the local index.
3. How cloud recognition works
The selected photo is sent over HTTPS to private temporary object storage. The Snap Find service coordinates the recognition task and sends the photo to a managed visual-recognition service. Current infrastructure includes Tencent CloudBase, Tencent Cloud object storage and database services, and Alibaba Cloud Model Studio visual models.
Temporary photos are not publicly accessible. In the normal path, a photo is deleted as soon as the recognition task reaches a terminal state. Object storage also has a lifecycle rule that marks objects for expiry after one day as a fallback for crashes or failed deletion. The cloud platform executes lifecycle deletion asynchronously on a daily cycle, so underlying physical deletion may complete during the next execution cycle after expiry. Structured results are cached only for reliable delivery and retry on weak networks; they are deleted when the device acknowledges local storage, with an application-layer fallback maximum of 24 hours.
We do not sell your photos, item names, OCR, location text, or search terms, and we do not use them for advertising. We do not authorize cloud providers to use this content for advertising profiles or to train their general-purpose models, and require processing to be limited to providing recognition and infrastructure services.
4. Data stored on your device
Original photos, thumbnails, recognition results, and the search index remain in the App’s private local storage until you delete the related photo in the App or uninstall the App. Deleting a photo also removes that scene’s original image, derived files, recognition results, and local index entries. The App cannot recover them after deletion.
You can manually export and import standard ZIP files using Backup & migration. Exports include original photos and saved scene and item information, but exclude balances, credentials, device keys and unfinished recognition tasks. ZIP backups are unencrypted; you and your chosen storage provider control the destination and access permissions. Import runs locally without cloud recognition. Deleting a scene in the App does not delete copies in exported backups; delete those files separately at their saved location when needed.
Your operating system may handle App data according to your system backup settings. System cloud backups are controlled by the relevant platform provider and are not directly accessible to the App operator.
5. Service, device, and purchase data
To provide anonymous credits, reliable delivery, purchase restoration, security, and diagnostics, the App may process:
- a randomly generated anonymous installation identifier, identity token, and credit balance;
- recognition task state, idempotency identifiers, duration, error codes, result count, App version, and a limited device performance tier;
- Apple transaction verification data, product and transaction identifiers, refund status, and an irreversible purchase-identity digest;
- key identifier digests, counters, and limited validation material required for platform services such as App Attest and DeviceCheck; and
- short-lived network signals used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. The application layer does not retain raw IP addresses, although cloud access or audit logs may record source addresses under the providers’ security and retention settings.
The App does not create an email, phone-number, or password account and does not use an advertising identifier. Transaction and credit records are kept as long as needed to provide non-expiring purchased credits, handle refunds, prevent duplicate grants, and meet applicable legal obligations. Application security events containing only fixed categories and pseudonymous references—not user content or raw IP addresses—are retained for no more than 90 days.
6. System permissions
- Camera: requested only after you choose to take a photo, and used to photograph storage spaces.
- Photos: used to read a photo you explicitly select. On supported systems, the App uses the system photo picker and receives access only to the selected photo.
You can revoke permissions in system settings. The related capture or selection feature will then be unavailable.
7. Service providers and international processing
We disclose the minimum information necessary to providers that support App functions, including Apple (in-app purchases and device or App validation), Tencent Cloud (API, temporary object storage, and server-side data), and Alibaba Cloud (visual recognition). They process information under their applicable terms and our service configurations.
Current recognition infrastructure is primarily deployed in mainland China. If you use cloud recognition from another country or region, the selected photo and related service data are transferred to mainland China for processing. We use data minimization, HTTPS, private object storage, access isolation, and short retention periods to reduce risk.
Model Studio’s default audit logs record metadata such as request ID, call time, model, usage, latency, and status. They do not record the photo, prompt, or recognition-response content, and the current platform query and retention window is no more than 30 days. We do not enable inference logging, which would record complete inputs and outputs.
8. Your choices and deletion
- If you do not start cloud recognition, the selected photo is not uploaded.
- Delete a scene from its photo-details screen to remove that scene’s photo and recognition data from the device.
- Uninstalling the App removes locally managed App data; handling of system backups depends on your platform settings.
- You can use the email below to ask a privacy question, exercise an applicable privacy right, or request deletion of server-side data that can reasonably be associated with you. To avoid deleting another person’s data, we may ask for an anonymous identifier shown by the App or relevant purchase information.
Some transaction, refund, security, or ledger records may not be deleted immediately when they are required to provide non-expiring purchased credits, prevent duplicate grants, resolve disputes, or comply with law. We will explain any applicable retention reason.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children and does not request a user’s age, name, email address, or phone number. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information without appropriate consent should contact us.
10. Changes to this policy
If our data practices materially change, we will update this page and its effective date and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App or on the store listing. If a new use requires consent, we will ask before beginning that processing.
